Vegan Alternatives To Yogurt.

Would you ever consider turning to vegan in a day if someone asks you to? No, right! But, we must support those people who want to adopt veganism. It would appear that being vegan is the ultimate motive for healthy eating. The ideal healthy-food diet. The pinnacle of nourishment.
But wait.
"Just because something is vegan doesn't mean it's healthy." Yes, it is correct. Even if you follow a vegan diet, you can still consume junk food.

There is much discussion about veganism and whether it is a healthy way of life. In order to live a healthy life, some individuals think being a vegan is the best course of action, while others think it's still feasible to consume animal products and yet be healthy. Therefore, how about vegan yogurt? Is it healthy for you? When deciding if vegan yogurt is healthy for you, you need to take a few factors into account.
Firstly, there are the components. Soy milk, almond milk, or coconut milk are typically used to make vegan yogurt since it is manufactured without the use of dairy ingredients. These milk substitutes for dairy products are typically regarded as being healthy options. The nutritional content of vegan yogurt is the second factor to take into account. Vegan yogurt may be a rich source of calcium and protein, much like dairy yogurt can be. Vegan yogurt is an even more nutrient-dense option because it is frequently enriched with vitamins and minerals. Is vegan yogurt healthy for you then? Unanimously, the response is yes!

Coconut yogurt is the best variety to use. It is a delectable, nutritious treat that is suitable for breakfast, lunch, or supper. It is a wholesome ingredient that includes vitamins, minerals, and dietary fibre that contains approximately 60 grams (g) of fat, as opposed to about 30 grams of fat in cow’s milk yogurt. In addition, it shields users from viruses and germs. Almond yogurt is typically low in sugar and high in fat, although it has much less protein than cow's milk yogurt and, even when fortified, is almost completely devoid of calcium. As nuts might cause allergies, it is crucial to stay away from products that feature a lot of chemicals or thickeners.
It is advisable to stick with nut-milk yogurt when looking for dairy-free, gut-friendly yogurt. Greek-style yogurt made with almond milk offers about 10 grams of protein per serving, however, yogurts made with cashews and coconut only have four grams. Choose a plant-based yogurt like almond, coconut, or hemp if you want a dairy-free option that doesn't have any extra sugars, artificial flavors, or colors. Choosing one without them is a good option because it can result in weight gain and obesity.

Are we forgetting something else? What is it?

 It's definitely soy yogurt!
According to Whole Soy & Company, soy yogurt producers use a creamy soy foundation prepared by removing the fiber from soybeans and mixing the resultant product with water and cane sugar instead of using cow's milk. To make vegan yogurt, some businesses utilize bacterial strains grown on whey, a milk protein, while others use bacterial strains grown on a vegetable medium.

<Let me name some of the good brands for vegan yogurt>
   - Forager Project - Cashew milk yogurt
   - The Original Oatly! - Natural Oatgurt
   - Kite Hill - Almond Milk yogurt
   - Lavva - Dairy-free Pili nuts yogurt
   - So Delicious! - Coconut Milk yogurt
   - Siggi's - Plant-based yogurt
   - Chobani - Oat and Pea yogurt

It is also necessary to know the side effects of the food that you consume.
- It may cause you to feel bloated.
Consuming dairy products may result in bloating and gas if you are lacking lactose. Greek yogurt, which contains less lactose than conventional yogurt, is a good choice if you have a lactose intolerance. Alternatively, go dairy-free!
- It might cause unwanted weight gain.
Read the nutrition facts label before selecting a product to ensure that it has the least amount of sugar and the most protein because certain brands might include a lot of calories, fat, and sugar.
- Your blood sugar could spike.
Some companies heavily sweeten their flavoured yogurt products. That may enhance the flavour, but it also raises blood sugar levels.

Every product has its own benefits and side effects, the choice is yours! It is based on the quantity you eat. I am always in the notion that each and every food should be eaten in a moderate amount. I hope this message reached you all! Stay tuned for my next blog where I will be focussing on the different ways of making yogurt at home without the starter culture.
